A Chatham man faces multiple charges after someone broke into a residence in Chatham Wednesday night.
Police got the call shortly before 10:20 p.m. for a report of a break in at a Grand Avenue West location.
The accused allegedly stole the keys to the victim’s home and unlawfully entered the premises. Police say this violated a previously established release order that prohibited contact with the victim and restricted proximity to her residence.
The suspect was found nearby after fleeing the scene. He was arrested.
A 36-year-old Chatham man is charged with theft, possession of stolen property, being unlawfully in a dwelling and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
