Four people face drug charges after police pulled over a vehicle reported stolen recently from Walpole Island.
Police were alerted when a vehicle passed a cruiser, setting off the automatic
license plate reader.
An off-duty constable recognized the vehicle at a convenience store in
Tilbury and immediately contacted police dispatch.
Moments later, the vehicle was also observed passing an officer on Grand River Line.
The officer followed the vehicle, which missed a turn on Winterline Road and ultimately turned into a private driveway.
Chatham-Kent police officers arrived and arrested four individuals.
Charged are three Wallaceburg residents – a man aged 38, and two women, aged 30 and 42 – and a 40-year-old male from Windsor.
Police searched the vehicle and seized 39.1 grams of purple fentanyl.
All four occupants were charged with possession of property obtained by crime, possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.
