Weapons charges against local teen

A Chatham teenager as to answer to weapons charges after Chatham-Kent police say someone threatened to harm another youth while in possession of a knife.

Police began looking into the incident Sept. 6 and made their arrest Sunday morning, two days later.

A 16-year-old Chatham youth is charged with the following: assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and uttering treats.

Double assault

A man and woman face charges after police say they assaulted one another.

According to police, they were called about 9:45 a.m. Sunday over a report of a disturbance at an address on Adelaide Street South in Chatham.

An argument between a man and woman turned violent when the woman threw a bottle at the man, police say, followed by the man grabbing the woman, which led to physical injuries to her.

A 38-year-old Chatham man is charged with assault.

A 31-year-old Chatham woman is charged with assault with a weapon.

Suspicious actions leads to charges

A Chatham man is facing a number of charges following a report of suspicious activity in Wallaceburg early Monday morning.

Police received a report of the activity about 1:30 a.m. at a residence on Warwick Drive in Wallaceburg. It was reported a man dressed in dark clothing was observed walking around the property with a flashlight.

The man left in a vehicle at a high rate of speed prior to police arrival, police say.

A description of the vehicle was provided which aided officers in locating the vehicle on Base Line, near Old Glass Road in Wallaceburg.

Officers pulled over the vehicle and discovered the man was in violation of a curfew condition. During a search incident to arrest, the man was found in possession of a BB gun and a stolen identification. The man was also prohibited from being in possession of weapons.

A 49-year-old Chatham man is charged with failing to comply with an undertaking, failing to comply with a recognizance and possession of stolen property.
