Chatham-Kent police caught a suspect in the middle of a break-in attempt early Monday morning.

Shortly after 4:30 a.m., police responded to Wellington Street in Dresden for a break and enter in progress.

Upon arrival, officers located a man on the premises. Police say officers found the man had tools and copper wiring in his possession.

Further investigation revealed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

A 39-year-old Dresden man was arrested and charged with break and enter. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Hydro pole hit; man charged with assault

A Sunday morning accident in Erieau led to charges of assault against a Wardsville man.

At 7:37 a.m., police responded to the motor vehicle collision on Erieau Road in Erieau.

Officers learned the vehicle left the roadway and struck a hydro pole.

While investigating the matter, officers also learned the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant. The warrant was issued as a result of a June 2023 assault investigation.

A 43-year-old Wardsville man was arrested and charged with assault and was transported to police headquarters where he was held pending a bail hearing.

Skipped court date

At 7:15 a.m. Sunday morning, an officer on general patrol located a man on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg. The officer confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in January. The man was arrested.

A 40-year-old Wallaceburg man was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing. He currently faces the following charges: mischief, break and enter and failing to attend court.
