Family feud leads to charges

A Chatham man has to answer to charges after someone freaked out on their mother on the weekend.

Chatham-Kent police got the call Sunday morning and responded to McGuigan Avenue in Chatham for a family dispute.

Through investigation, police learned a man was arguing with his mother. The argument escalated when the man damaged the mother’s cell phone and commented about harming her, police say.

Officers arrived and arrested the man.

A 41-year-old Chatham man was charged with mischief and two counts of uttering threats.

Vehicles damaged

Angry actions by a local man have led to charges, according to Chatham-Kent police.

Early Sunday afternoon, police responded to a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham for a disturbance.

A man was observed inside a store he had been trespassed from, and was asked to leave by employees. As the man exited the store and walked through the parking lot, he struck vehicles randomly, causing damage, police say.

Officers located the man and he was arrested.

A 36-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with two counts of mischief. He was transported to police headquarter and held pending a bail hearing.

Vehicular pinball leads to impaired charges

A Dresden woman has to answer to impaired charges after an alert citizen reacted on Sunday afternoon.

Police responded to an impaired driving investigation in Dresden shortly before 5 p.m.

Officers learned a woman struck another vehicle while exiting an establishment on North Street. The owner of the second vehicle followed the woman to the parking lot of a nearby business, where he was able to retrieve the woman’s keys and contact the police.

Police arrived on the scene and believed the woman to be under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested and transported to police headquarters for a breath test. Her vehicle was towed.

A 54-year-old Dresden woman was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

Threats

At 8:15 p.m. Sunday, police responded to Harvey Street in Chatham for a threat investigation.

Police learned the man threatened to harm another man while speaking with his ex-girlfriend. The exchange was recorded, police say. The man was later located and arrested.

A 33-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with uttering threats.
