An angry outburst or two landed a man in Chatham-Kent police custody on Sunday.

At 3:59 p.m., police responded to a business on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg for a robbery investigation.

Through investigation, police say officers learned the man threatened to harm the employee if the card he was using to purchase items did not work. When the card was declined, the man fled the store. He attempted to steal a bicycle but was unsuccessful.

Police arrived on the scene and located the man immediately. When officers attempted to arrest the man, he fled. After a short foot chase, the man was taken into custody.

Upon a search incident to arrest, the man was found with items from the store.

A 28-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with robbery, resisting a peace officer, and possessing stolen property. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing
