Chatham-Kent OPP doled out more stunt driving tickets last week.

It began Feb. 10 about 12:45 p.m., as an officer stopped a passenger vehicle travelling on Highway 401 after it was found speeding 166 km/h in a posted 100-km/h zone.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 32 year old of Pain Court, was charged with stunt driving.

Additionally, during the interaction, police became concerned for the driver’s well-being and believed the individual to be in crisis. The individual was transported to a local hospital without incident.

Shortly before midnight on Feb. 10, an officer clocked a vehicle doing 164 km/h on Hwy. 401.

A 23-year-old North York driver faces stunt driving charges.

The next morning, about 9:42 a.m., an OPP officer pulled a vehicle over on Lacroix Street in Chatham.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 30 year old of Chatham, was charged with:

  • Driving while under suspension
  • Use plate not authorized for the vehicle
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit.

On Feb. 12, just after 2 a.m., another officer clocked a passenger vehicle zipping by on Hwy. 401 doing 167 km/h.

That led to a 27-year-old London driver being charged with stunt driving and failing to surrender the permit for the vehicle.

The 401 was not the only spot the OPP clocked excessive speeds. On Feb. 12 at 12:30 p.m., police say an officer stopped a vehicle on St. Clair Road doing 141 km/h in a posted 80-km/h zone.

A 22-year-old Dresden driver faces stunt-driving charges.

Less than four hours later, the stunt driving returned to Hwy. 401, as an officer pulled a vehicle over for doing 158 km/h in a 100-km/h zone.

A Chatham driver, 19, faces stunt driving charges, as well as another of driving without a licence.
