Two hospitalized by train-car collision

Two Dresden men are receiving treatment after a vehicle they were in got hit by a train in Thamesville Sunday night.

Chatham-Kent police say the crash took place just before 8 p.m. near the intersection of Base Line and Industrial Road. 

The driver, a 48-year-old Dresden man, was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention. 

His passenger, a 50-year-old Dresden man, was transported to Four Counties Hospital in Newbury and air-lifted to London for further medical treatment. 

The collision remains under investigation by members of CKPS Traffic Unit and Canadian Pacific Railway. Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Lisa Rodger at lisaro@chatham-kent.ca or 519-355-1092. 

Transport trucks stolen in Wallaceburg

On Saturday night around midnight, someone entered a compound on Gillard Street in Wallaceburg and stole two transport trucks with trailers loaded with recycled aluminum and zinc ingots.

The first transport truck was last seen with Ontario license plates PA42 924 with attached trailer bearing Ontario license plate S47 51K. 

The second transport truck was last seen with Ontario license plates 735 2PW with attached trailer bearing Ontario license plate P30 12A.

Vehicle stolen in Thamesville

Sometime Sunday morning between 6:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., someone entered a garage on Victoria Street in Thamesville and stole a red 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible. 

The car was last seen with Ontario license plates CXVK 952.

Failing to comply

In early August, a woman was released from court with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that she was not to attend within 25 metres of a specific address on Blythewood Crescent in Chatham.

However, on Sunday afternoon, police responded to the report of an unwanted person at this address. Police say officers located the woman standing in the driveway. 

A 49-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Breach of conditions

In 2020, a man was released from court with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to remain in his residence except for medical emergencies, court purposes or when in the presence of either surety. 

On Sunday afternoon, police received information that the man may be in violation of his release conditions. Upon attending the man’s residence, officers learned that the man was not home nor was he in the presence of either surety.

Officers located the man a short time later and he was arrested. 

A 41-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to comply, and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
