String of B&Es under investigation

The Chatham-Kent Police Service is investigating four break and enters that occurred between Sept. 11 and 12. The break and enters occurred on Charring Cross Road in Chatham, Grand Ave East in Chatham, Gillard Street in Wallaceburg and Brook Line in Dresden.

As a result of these break and enters more than $1,500 of property has been stolen.

Police are attempting to identify this person in reference to the break and enter that occurred on Grand Avenue East. Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Dan Steveley at dans@chatham-kent.ca. Anonymous callers may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.

Train and vehicle collide near Bothwell

No one was injured when a passenger vehicle and a train tried and failed to occupy the same space on a rail crossing on Zone Rd. 4 near Bothwell about 4 p.m. Monday.

Police say the Canadian Pacific Police Service has taken over the investigation.

Suspicious fire

Shortly before 11 p.m. Monday night, Chatham-Kent police responded to a suspicious fire in an open lot on Park Avenue near Hyslop Street in Chatham. When emergency services arrived, several bushes and trees were on fire.
