Man arrested for assault and … mooning

Apparently, a Wallaceburg man was so incensed his apartment was being inspected that he felt the need to moon the inspection team.

Chatham-Kent police say they got the call shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday morning for the incident on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.

Police say they learned the man became upset and engaged in a verbal argument with three people when they arrived to conduct a scheduled inspection on the man’s apartment.

The three people left the apartment before completing the inspection. As the people walked away the man followed. The man spat in the face of one, took another person’s hat and threw it at the third person, striking them in the face, police say.

The three victims continued to walk away and at that moment, the man pulled down his pants and exposed his butt to the victims, police say.

A 44-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with theft, two counts of assault and three counts of indecent acts.

Scary near miss

On Wednesday night, while emergency crews had a portion of Grand Avenue East in Chatham closed for a motor vehicle collision, police say a vehicle blasted through the perimeter and screeched to a halt.

It may sound like a Hollywood entrance to a crime scene, but that wasn’t the case.

Officers approached the vehicle and spoke with the driver. The officers believed the driver to be under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested.

The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 28-year-old Chatham man is charged with having a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit as well as offences under the Highway Traffic Act, Cannabis Control Act and Liquor License Act.

Bail or jail?

Twice in the past four months, a man entered into Probation Orders with conditions, including not to attend within 100 meters of a woman.

The most recent of which was in early June.

Can you guess what police say happened?

Shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday, police received a complaint the man was violating his conditions by attending the woman’s residence on Queen Street in Chatham.

Police attended the woman’s residence and found the man.

A 29-year-old Raleigh Township man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with a Probation Order.

He was transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.
