Last week gave us a sampling, and this week seems poised to give us a full on heat wave.

For two days last week, we endured heat warnings, as daytime humidex readings extended into the high 30s and low 40s.

Starting today, we are once again under a heat warning, one that could extend through to Friday, according to officials.

Heat warnings are issued when days are forecasted to have a daytime high temperature greater than or equal to 31C and a nighttime temperature greater than or equal to 21C or a humidex greater than 42C.

Extended warnings are issued when three or more such days are predicted.

It starts today, as the temperature could reach 30C. But the real heat rolls in Tuesday. Expect a high of 35C with a humidex of 42C.

Environment Canada at this point predicts highs of 30C or more straight through the weekend.

Municipal cooling stations are expected to once again be open to the public during the heat warning.
