Assault charges

Shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday evening, Chatham-Kent police responded to a business on Lowe Street in Wallaceburg for a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, police learned a man and a woman were engaged in a verbal argument over a vehicle. The situation escalated when the man grabbed the woman and forcefully removed her from the vehicle, police say.

The man left the area in the vehicle prior to police arrival.

Through investigation, it was learned this had not been the first incident of violence.

A 37-year-old Wallaceburg man was located a few hours later. He was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and two counts of assault.

Another assault

Last night at midnight police responded to a domestic dispute at an address on Pine Street in Chatham.

Upon arrival police learned a physical altercation had occurred between a man and his fiancé.

A 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with one count of assault.
