Assault, threats

At approximately 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Chatham-Kent police arrested a woman following an investigation regarding a disturbance on Third Street in Chatham.

Through investigation police learned a woman and man were engaged in a verbal argument. It was also learned the incident had escalated into a physical altercation.

A 42-year-old Chatham woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant, assault, and uttering threats.

Counterfeit cash?

Last night at approximately 11 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg in response to Highway Traffic Act violations.

The investigation led to the discovery of approximately $2,500 Canadian believed to be counterfeit.

A 43-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested for Highway Traffic Act offences and possession of counterfeit money.

Tools stolen 

Sometime early Saturday morning, someone forced their way into the RONA Cashway Building Centre on Murray Street in Wallaceburg, causing about $1,000 in damage. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole approximately $900 worth of various DeWalt tools.

B&E

Saturday night around 10 p.m., police responded to an alarm at the Liquidation Zone on St. Clair Street in Chatham. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that someone had forced their way into the business, causing about $5,000 damage. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole $500 worth of silver jewelry.

Light fingers

Saturday afternoon, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Shoppers Drug Mart on Queen Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the woman concealed approximately $475 worth of items in a bag and left the store without making any attempt to pay for the merchandise, police say.

Officers located the woman a short distance away and she was taken into custody. The stolen items were recovered and returned to the store.

A 37-year-old woman, of no fixed address, was charged with theft, possession of stolen property and two counts of failing to comply with her release conditions.

Fails to comply

In early November, a woman was released from court with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that she was to remain in her residence at all times, except for medical emergencies or when in the presence of her surety.

Saturday night, police initiated a traffic stop on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg. The woman was located in the vehicle with neither surety present.

A 37-year-old Croton woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply with her release conditions.
