Cops find car, then alleged thief

On Wednesday, Chatham-Kent police responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle in a field on 16th Line.

The driver was located walking away from the vehicle and in possession of the keys.

Through investigation police learned the vehicle had been reported stolen a few days earlier and the man was wanted on outstanding charges from previous incidents.

A 29-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters where he was held pending a bail hearing.

Assault with a weapon and mischief

On Wednesday around midnight, Chatham-Kent police were called to an address in Howard Township for a disturbance.

Police attended and investigated the matter.

As a result, a 68-year-old Howard Township woman was arrested for assault with a weapon and mischief.

B&E charges

In early January, a man was released by the court with conditions. The conditions included a curfew, to not communicate with the victim and to not be within 100 meters of any place the victim resides or works.

Last night at approximately 11 p.m., police say the man breached those conditions by attending the victim’s residence. Police attended and found the man inside the residence. It was also learned the man had assaulted the victim during this incident.

A 32-year-old Glencoe man was arrested and charged with break and enter, assault, mischief, and three counts of failing to comply with release order. He was transported the police headquarters and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
