Assault charges

Last night, Chatham-Kent police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation.

A 38-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm and forcible confinement. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

B&E charges laid

Yesterday, police responded to a break and enter at an apartment building on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that an unknown man had entered two apartments while the owners were home, while attempting to forcibly enter another.

The man was identified and located a short distance away. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of a small screwdriver and metal pick.

A 38-year-old Chatham man has been charged with being in possession of break and enter tools and three counts of break and enter. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Two people charged with theft

Last night around 5 p.m., police responded to a theft from vehicle in a parking lot in Chatham.

Through investigation, police identified the man and woman responsible.

Shortly after 9 p.m. police located the pair on Vanier Drive and they were arrested.

A man, 43, and a woman, 31, both of Chatham-Kent, were charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

Collision

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Ridge Line between Harwich Road and Front Line.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $7,000.

A 24-year-old Wardsville man was charged with careless driving.
