Assault charges
On Sunday morning, Chatham-Kent police responded to a local motel in Chatham in regards to an assault complaint.
Through investigation, police learned that the man assaulted a woman, known to him, following a verbal argument.
A 42-year-old Chatham man was located a short time later and taken into custody. He was charged with assault.
Drug charges
On May 31, a man was released from court with several conditions. Two of those conditions stated that he was to remain in his residence at all times, except for medical emergencies or with his surety and not to possess any drugs.
Yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol observed the man riding his bicycle alone on Queen Street in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that the man was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.
The man was taken into custody and found to be in possession of suspected cocaine after being searched incident to arrest.
A 22-year-old Chatham man is charged with drug possession and two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.
Domestic-related charges
Last night, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Tilbury.
Through investigation, police learned that the man entered the residence of a woman, known to him, without being invited or given permission.
Once inside, the residence, the man assaulted the woman, regardless of being on conditions not to communicate with her or attend her home.
Officers located the man a short time later and he was taken into custody.
A 26-year-old Tilbury man is charged with break and enter and two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
