Assault charges

On Monday afternoon, Chatham-Kent police responded to a family dispute at a residence in the Bothwell area.

Through investigation, police learned that the man assaulted a family member in the home.

A 34-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.

Threats 

Last night, police responded to a harassment complaint in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man threatened to cause damage to a local family’s home, following an argument.

A 36-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with uttering threats.

Copper wire stolen

Sometime over the weekend, someone forced their way into a fenced compound on Queen Street, causing about $1,000 damage.

Once inside, the suspect(s) stole approximately $1,800 in copper wire.

Compliance concern

Just last week, a man was released from court with several conditions.

Shortly after 10 p.m. last night, police responded to the report of an unwanted man at a residence in Blenheim.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was not residing at his court-approved address and that he had failed to sign in as per his release conditions.

A 41-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The same day the man was released from court, a woman was also let go with conditions. Two of those conditions stated that she was not to attend a specific business on Grand Avenue East in Chatham and to obey a daily curfew of 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Yesterday, the woman was observed on the property of the business three different times.

Around 1:30 a.m. this morning, police located the woman walking on Grand Avenue East.

A 42-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with four counts of failing to comply with her release conditions. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Biker woes

Last night, an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop with a motorcyclist on Base Line in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation, the officer learned that the man was currently suspended from driving and that the license plate on the motorcycle was not registered.

A 31-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with driving while under suspension, using plate not authorized and failing to have insurance.
