Wrong side of the fence, pal

Just before 7 a.m. yesterday morning, Chatham-Kent police responded to the report of a suspicious man inside a fenced construction site on McNaughton Avenue East in Chatham.

Officers located the man a short distance away and he was taken into custody. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of a stolen spool of wire and suspected methamphetamine.

A 29-year-old Chatham man is charged with break and enter, being in possession of property obtained by a crime, failing to comply with his curfew and drug possession.

Weapon charges

Yesterday afternoon, Chatham-Kent police responded to the report of a suspicious man in possession of a knife on Forhan Street in Wallaceburg.

Officers located the man on Dufferin Avenue and through investigation learned that he had threatened to harm a citizen’s dog prior to police arrival.

A 37-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats.

Non-compliance spat

Around 3:30 a.m. this morning, police responded to a disturbance between a man and woman, known to each other, regarding the ownership of puppies at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the pair was on conditions not to communicate with each other.

A 50-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply with her release conditions and breach of probation.

A 26-year-old Sarnia man was arrested and charged with breach of probation and drug possession.

Both remain in police custody this morning.

Domestic leads to charges

Shortly after 4:30 a.m. this morning, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the Chatham woman was currently bound by conditions not to communicate with the Ingersoll woman, who police say falsely identified herself to officers.

The 24-year-old Ingersoll woman was arrested and charged with obstructing police. She was additionally arrested on an outstanding warrant.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The 36-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply with her release conditions. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
