Roomies scrap in Wheatley

Chatham-Kent police have charged a Wheatley man with assault causing bodily harm after two roommates got into an argument.

Yesterday morning, the roommates at a residence in Wheatley began arguing, but it escalated into a physical altercation.

Through investigation, police learned that the man assaulted the woman, resulting in her requiring medical attention.

A 57-year-old Wheatley man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm.

Domestically disturbed

Yesterday morning, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation, police learned that the woman assaulted the man during an argument.

An 18-year-old woman was arrested and charged with assault.

A 32-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl. He was charged with drug possession and failing to comply with his release conditions by being in possession of unlawful drugs. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing and remanded until today.

Alleged truck thief nabbed

On Wednesday, police responded to the report of an unwanted man at Wal-Mart in Chatham. The man left prior to police arrival, however officers located the man driving a truck on St. Clair Road.

A traffic stop was initiated and the man was charged with driving while under suspension and driving with a vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock.

The truck was towed from the scene and impounded for 45 days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.

That night, the owner of the truck contacted police to report that the man had stolen his truck.

Last night, police located the 49-year-old man in Chatham and he was additionally charged with theft of motor vehicle, being in possession of property obtained by a crime over $5000 and two counts of failing to comply with his Probation Order.

Critter collisions 

Last night, police responded to three collisions with deer across Chatham-Kent.

All three collisions occurred between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. The first collision occurred on River Line. The next two collisions occurred on Longwoods Road between Caledonia Road and Centre Side Road.

Police remind motorists to use extra caution when travelling during dawn and dusk hours, when wildlife are more active and most collisions occur.
