Robbery arrest

Yesterday morning, Chatham-Kent police located a man who was wanted on an outstanding warrant in connection with a robbery investigation that occurred inside a motel room on Grand Avenue East in Chatham back in late March.

A 25-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with robbery. He was released pending a future court date.

Crash leads to impaired charges

Just before 1 a.m. this morning, police responded to the report of a single motor-vehicle collision on Bear Line Road near Pain Court Line.

Upon police arrival, the man was observed trying to get his motorcycle back onto the roadway. Through investigation, the officer suspected the man was driving his motorcycle while under the influence of alcohol.

A roadside breath test was conducted and the man failed. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.

A 60-year-old Pain Court man is charged with having a blood-alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

Driving while under suspension

Yesterday morning, just before 11 a.m. an officer on general patrol observed a man driving without wearing his seat belt on Queen Street in Tilbury.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation learned that the man was suspended from driving for remedial measures in relation to a criminal code driving offence.

A 26-year-old Tilbury man was charged with failing to wear a seat belt and two counts of driving while under suspension.

His girlfriend’s vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 45 days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.

Fender benders

Yesterday morning around 9 a.m., police responded to a single motor-vehicle collision on Big Pointe Road near Marsh Line.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $3,000.

A 31-year-old Belle River man was charged with careless driving.

Yesterday afternoon around 4 p.m., police responded to a single motor-vehicle collision on Union Line between Centre Side Road and Lindsay Road.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $1,000.

A 64-year-old man was charged with careless driving.
