Driving while under suspension

Last night, an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle turn without signaling on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

The officer initiated a traffic stop for this offence, police say, and the man fled into a nearby residence, without identifying himself to the officer.

Through investigation, police identified the man and learned that he was currently suspended for unpaid fines.

A 49-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with driving while under suspension, failing to identify himself and failing to signal a turn.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and the registered owner was notified.

Collision leads to impaired charges

Last night, around 6:30 p.m., police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Chatham Street South in Blenheim.

Police say the man lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and struck a hydro pole.

Through investigation, police believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested.  He was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

Christopher Brown, 45, of Blenheim, is charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

Breaching curfew

On June 8, a man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he must obey a daily curfew of 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Around 4:30 a.m. this morning, police located the man riding his bicycle on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

Police say the man fled, but was located in The Landings a short time later.

The 28-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply.

Failing to comply

Yesterday, police received information that a woman, currently on conditions not to communicate with her ex-boyfriend, was speaking to him via Facebook Messenger.

The 22-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply.
