Obstruction charges

Shortly after 7 a.m. yesterday morning, police responded to the report of a suspicious man on Thames Street in Chatham.

Officers located the man who appeared to be in medical distress.

Paramedics transported the man to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention.

The man verbally identified himself to police, however through investigation, officers confirmed his true identity, police say, and learned that he was currently bound by a house-arrest condition in Windsor.

Once medically cleared, the 33-year-old man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions and obstruct police.

Domestic charges

Man gets out of jail. Man is told to not communicate with a specific woman, or go near her house.

Yet less than two weeks later, police say he violated those conditions.

After getting out of jail April 10, a man walked into a woman’s home in Wallaceburg through an unlocked door and tried to talk to her. Police say she remained hidden in a bedroom until police arrived.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was also wanted for similar offences from earlier this week.

A 32-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested and charged with unlawfully being in a dwelling house and four counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

Woman charged with stunt driving

Yesterday afternoon, an officer with the Traffic Unit observed a vehicle travelling southbound on Wheatley Road at a high rate of speed. The officer recorded the woman driving 132 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

A 27-year-old Belle River woman was charged with stunt driving. Her driver’s license has been suspended for seven days and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.

Stolen truck

Sometime overnight, someone stole a red 2011 Ford F-150 pickup truck from a residence on Grand Avenue East.

The truck was last seen bearing Ontario license plates AP70785 and has a white Philadelphia Flyers decal in the rear window.

Grand Avenue collision

Last night, police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Grand Avenue near Vanier Drive in Chatham.

No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $8,000.

A 43-year-old Chatham man was charged with careless driving.
