Thank you, gamblers.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) recently delivered a cheque for nearly $474,000 to the municipality of Chatham-Kent.
That’s the hosting revenue for having Cascades Casino operate in Chatham.
Since a gaming site opened in Chatham-Kent back in 2002, the municipality has received $21,855,969.
These payments to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.
“Revenues from OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement allow Chatham-Kent to invest in infrastructure and provide funding for critical community services,” said Trevor Jones, MPP for Chatham-Kent–Leamington, in a media release. “Provincial revenues from Cascades Casino Chatham will help improve the quality of life for families across Ontario.”
Since 1994, host communities have received more than $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
