The local public and Catholic school boards say all of their schools will be closed Fri., Feb. 21 if a new deal isn’t made between the teachers’ unions and the province by then.
Both the Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) and the St. Clair Catholic District School Board (SCCDSB) report teachers plan on full withdrawal of services next Friday if a deal isn’t reached.
That means all schools, elementary and secondary, in both boards will be closed on Feb. 21.
“We continue to be hopeful that a collective agreement which is fair to all parties can be negotiated at the provincial bargaining table,” an SCCDSB e-mail said.
Due to anticipated school closures, families are strongly encouraged to explore alternate childcare arrangements, the LKDSB stated.
