A Christmas Benefit Concert will take place at First Presbyterian Church on Dec. 7 to support the homeless of Chatham-Kent.

There are several choirs and musicians participating, and the hope is that the community will come to enjoy the seasonal entertainment, and support the mission, which assists homeless men who want to change their lives and find stable housing.

The following musicians are donating their time and talent to help those in need: CK Christian Men’s Choir, Ron Bolohan “The Accordion man,” Mikayle Lozon soloist, Dover Centre Ladies’ Choir, “One Accord” Men’s Quartet and organist Nancy Tapley. This will be a festive event with lots of carol singing.

It is a family event. Free of charge (with a free will offering to support the mission of Hope Haven).

Wanda Bell, general manager of the haven said in a media release, “It is wonderful to have this concert become an annual event to support Chatham Hope Haven. It will be a special evening in which to celebrate the Christmas season and to assist those who are in need in our community. We are so thankful to all the talented people who will be performing at the event – this is a perfect example of sharing the goodwill of the Christmas season.”

Chatham Hope Haven, located at 183 Wellington S. W., is run solely on donations from churches, organizations, businesses and individuals. A group of interdenominational volunteers supervise the men in the evenings and provide supper and breakfast each day as well as showers, laundry facilities and referrals to community resources.

The haven is open from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., seven days a week. Currently there is a limit of 10, and beds are assigned on a first come, first served basis.

The haven accepts donations of food, cleaning supplies, gift cards, backpacks, gloves, and financial gifts Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. or in the evening (use back entrance) seven days a week after 7 p.m. Paypal donations can be made online through the website chathamhopehaven.com. Any enquiries can be made at 519-351-4010.
