Chatham-Kent police say not obeying a curfew led to additional charges early this morning for a Chatham man.

A man was released from custody in July with several conditions, one of which was to obey a curfew of between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., and another was to not possess any weapons.

An officer on general patrol spotted the man, police say, about 3:45 a.m. riding his bike on West Street with no light.

As the officer investigated, he learned the man was bound by the curfew, police say, and went to arrest the man.

The guy got loose and fled on foot. Police say following a short foot chase and struggle, the man was arrested. A search revealed a set of brass knuckles.

A 39-year-old Chatham man is charged with resisting arrest, possession of a prohibited weapon and two counts of failing to comply.
