Assault charge

A Chatham man faces charges following an altercation Thursday.

Chatham-Kent police were called shortly before noon to Keil Drive South in Chatham.

Investigating officers learned a man and woman engaged in an argument. The argument escalated when the man assaulted the woman, police say.

The woman was able to leave the situation and call the police.

A 30-year-old Chatham man is charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault, and uttering threats.

Bail violations

Police tracked down a man on Wellington Street in Chatham Thursday afternoon and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant in relation to an April bail violation investigation and several theft investigations.

A 28-year-old Chatham Kent man was arrested and held for a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: mischief, failing to comply with a release order, five counts of possession of stolen property, and five counts of theft.
