When most of us are asleep, it seems the criminal element is out and about. So too are the Chatham-Kent police, as three men got scooped up overnight wanted on a variety of charges.

Around 1 a.m., an officer on patrol spotted a man riding his bike without a light on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

The cop stopped the guy, as it is an offence, and learned the man was wanted on warrants for theft, possession of stolen property and failing to attend court.

A 23-year-old man is off to a bail hearing.

Thirty minutes later, an officer spotted a man walking in Chatham, and recognized him for being wanted for numerous charges.

A 48-year-old Chatham man was arrested for charges of drug possession, mischief, failing to comply, failing to attend for fingerprinting and failing to attend court.

Yet he was released with a June 28 court date. Will he show for that one?

And shortly after 2 a.m., an officer spotted another guy on a bike running with no light. This time it was on Thames Street in Chatham.

The officer learned the man was wanted for failing to comply.

A search revealed the man possessed liquid and crystal meth, police say.

A 33-year-old Chatham man is charged with failing to comply, and two counts of drug possession.
