Big-screen theft foiled

Apparently a couple of Chatham-Kent residents figured they’d follow the “Go Big or Go Home” mantra when attending Wal-Mart last night.

Two people stole a 65-inch RCA 4K TV from the Chatham store Thursday night.

According to Chatham-Kent police, a man walked out of the store with the TV, making no attempt to pay for it. Remember, this TV has a screen diagonal of almost 5.5-feet.

A woman was waiting for him in a vehicle in the parking lot.

Officers received their descriptions, as well as the license plate of their vehicle.

Police say the two got as far as the intersection of Charing Cross Road and Middle Line before an officer pulled them over.

A New Scotland Line man, 35, and a Chatham woman, 22, face charges of theft and possession of stolen property.

Perhaps their mantra is now “Go Big and Go to Court.”

Police recovered the TV, which is valued at $900.
