Failing, failing

When the courts say stay at home, you do so, right? Or when you are told to show up in court on a certain day, you show up, correct?

Apparently not, for some.

Chatham-Kent police say a man was released from custody back in November with several conditions. One of those was to remain at his residence at all times, unless in the presence of the person who agreed to be his surety.

But last night at about 11 p.m., an officer pulled a vehicle over in Chatham and noticed the man in the backseat of the car, police say. There was no sign of his surety.

A 23-year-old Chatham man is charged with failing to comply, and was arrested on two outstanding warrants.

Earlier this month, another man failed to show up for his appointed time before a judge. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

About 3:30 a.m. this morning, an officer spotted the man on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.

A 28-year-old Wallaceburg man is charged with failing to attend court.
