Kiwanis reward 2 students with scholarships

Dheepti Thommandram and Adi Zingman are all smiles after receiving their $1,000 scholarships from the local Kiwanis Club recently.

Two students from Chatham-Kent Secondary School were the recipients of this year’s Kiwanis Scholarship awards at a dinner meeting recently in Chatham.

Dheepti Thommandram and Adi Zingman, both Grade 12 students, were awarded $1,000 scholarships based on applications made to the program.

According to scholarship committee member Dennis Myers, both girls had outstanding applications based on academics, community and school involvement, as well as leadership qualities.

Also honoured at the dinner was Kiwanian Jim Pepper, who was awarded the Syd Kemsley Community Service Award for his hard work, dedication and mentoring to the Kiwanis Music Festival, as a teacher and principal with the Lambton Kent District School Board, as a sports coach and as co-ordinator of children and youth activities.
