Homebuilder donates to animal shelter

From left, Dr. Bruce Warwick, Trevor Mailloux, Robb Nelson, Kim Nelson and Gilles Michaud of Maple City Homes donate $10,000 towards the construction of the new animal shelter in Chatham.

Maple City Homes has donated $10,000 to the new $2.3 million animal shelter soon to be under construction on Park Avenue East in Chatham.

The firm is donating $500 from the sale of each home sold on Summerset Place to the shelter, which has been approved for construction by Chatham-Kent council.

Maple City officials challenged other builders to take part in what was called “a great project” of interest to many Chatham-Kent residents.

The Friends of the New Animal Shelter group has more than $900,000 in funding committed to the shelter, which will be completed in a matter of months.
