A little four-year-old boy died last night on Smoke Line in East Kent.
The young lad was hit by a pickup truck as he ran out onto the roadway.
Police say the tragedy occurred about 7:15 p.m. Sunday, as the child was playing with friends in the ditch beside the road when he got up onto the road and began running across. A 55-year-old Chatham man driving a Ford F-150 was westbound on Smoke Line and couldn’t avoid the child.
The boy was taken to hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.
