Yesterday, officers from the Chatham-Kent Police Services Traffic Unit and Ministry of Transportation’s Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Unit participated in a Joint Forces Operation, conducting safety inspections on commercial motor vehicles that were operating throughout the Chatham area. Officers inspected a total of 19 commercial vehicles, their loads and the driver’s qualifications and documentation. Ten vehicles were taken out of service for having serious safety infractions and two sets of license plates were seized. A total of 30 charges were laid.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind all commercial motor vehicle operators that safety inspections will continue to be conducted on a regular basis in an on-going effort to keep our Chatham-Kent roadways safe for all road users.
