A Merlin-area teen is in hot water for some hot rodding.

Police say in January, a youth was released from custody with conditions, one of which was to obey a curfew from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., unless he accompanied a parent.

Last night, about 20 minutes past that curfew, an officer spotted a vehicle doing donuts on the grass behind Merlin Public School.

The officer pulled into the school, only to see the car speed off, police say. It rolled through a stop sign before finally pulling over on Aberdeen Street.

A 17-year-old Merlin boy is charged with driving without a license, driving without insurance, failing to comply, and mischief (damage to the schoolyard grass is estimated at about $1,000).
