From left, Jaclyn Gillier and Connie Beneteau of the Santa Claus Parade committee, and GDF Suez’s Lauge Nielsen get an early start on the festive season, hanging out with Santa recently in the Downtown Chatham Centre. GDF matched its $18,000 donation from 2013 for the parade.

GDF Suez once again came forward to donate to this year’s Chatham Santa Claus Parade.

The energy company has donated $18,000 towards the parade, which will help cover the cost of the event and pay for some additional entertainment.

Jaclyn Gillier, a member of the Santa Claus Parade committee said the money has allowed organizers to bring in two marching bands, one from Port Huron, Mich., and the other from the University of Western Ontario in London.

Gillier estimates there will be about 50 floats from local businesses and charity groups in the Nov. 14 evening parade.
