police cuffs

Dear Chatham-Kent residents who have run afoul of the law: If you want to get back on the straight and narrow, one of the first things that you should do is adhere to the conditions of your release from custody.

Unfortunately, two Chatham men apparently didn’t come to that realization this week.

They took one man back into custody after responding to a disturbance on Keil Drive South near Park Avenue about 1 a.m. this morning. Police tracked down a man they say is bound by a curfew of 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Furthermore, police say the man is supposed to live on Harvey Street. He wasn’t.

A 29-year-old Chatham man faces two counts of failing to comply. He was held in custody awaiting a bail hearing today.

On July 26, a man was released from police custody, but with several conditions. One was to report to the local probation officer no later than 4:30 p.m. July 28.

He was a no-show, police say.

Last night, shortly before midnight, police found the man on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.

A 39-year-old Chatham man is charged with failing to comply. He too awaits a bail hearing.
