To say the Salvation Army is excited about its move to a bigger facility for the Community and Family Services program would be an understatement.

The Salvation Army Chatham-Kent Community & Family Services, previously located on Harvey Street, has relocated to a new, larger facility at 19 Raleigh St., Chatham.

The new site allows for the expansion of services currently being offered by The Salvation Army to better meet the needs of clients. Current programs running include the food bank, housing support services, youth support services and budget management support.

Additional services are being offered in the new location such as food skill classes, financial literacy, menu planning, young mom programs and computer access. In partnership with other community agencies, training and education opportunities to further empower clients to cope with their current life situations will also be provided.

The office at Harvey Street closed July 17 and the new offices at 19 Raleigh St. opened to clients July 21.

A grand opening is being planned for September.
