A traffic stop and a RIDE check recently kept the local OPP busy pulling pot from vehicles.

According to the Chatham-Kent OPP, an officer pulled over a speeder on Highway 401 Wednesday night about 8 p.m., and noticed an open alcoholic beverage upon approaching the vehicle. A subsequent search yielded about 140 grams of marijuana and related drug paraphernalia.

A 24-year-old man from Stoney Creek faces charges of possession of marijuana, over 30 grams; possession of cannabis resin, under one gram; speeding; and driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available. A 22-year-old passenger from Binbrook, Ont., is charged with possession of marijuana, over 30 grams.

Three hours later that same night, a RIDE check set up at Communications Road and Colborne Street resulted in a seizure of a small amount of pot.

A 37-year-old local man faces charges of possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana.
