To stay out of jail, a Chatham man was supposed to notify police within 24 hours of his release of his new address. Another condition of his release from custody was to not communicate in any way with a specific Chatham woman.

The man was released from jail May 31 with those conditions. Police say he called the woman shortly after his release and left a voicemail. A day later, he called her again, leaving another message.

As of 8 p.m. June 1, police say he had not provided them with his address.

As a result, Chatham-Kent police scooped up a 65-year-old man on Grand Avenue East yesterday afternoon and charged him with three counts of failing to comply.
