More charges laid against retired schoolteacher

Four more people came forward to accuse a retired schoolteacher of historic sexual assault, according to Chatham-Kent police.

Police initially laid a host of sexual-related offences against the man in connection with historic sexual offences involving school-aged male children.

Since that time, four more males have come forward to level allegations. As a result, police arrested Jim Lekavy, 67, again. He now faces 11 new counts of gross indecency, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of indecent assault on a male, two counts of sexual exploitation, one count of uttering threats dating back between 1973 and 1991.  He was released with conditions pending a future court date of Oct. 25

Lekavy initially faced four counts of indecent assault, three counts of sexual assault and one of buggery, dating back to he early 1980.

Lekavy worked as an elementary school teacher for 39 years. He taught at Tilbury Area Public School, Romney Central Public School and Wheatley Public School.
