A six-hour overnight downtime for the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance phone system is in the works for Aug. 17.

Between 11 p.m. on Aug. 17 and 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 18, the phone and switchboard will be shut down so servers can be moved to the regional data centre and hospital systems upgraded.

According to the CKHA, hospital staff, volunteers, patients and their families will be kept up to date, and not to worry – emergency phones on each unit will available and all internal phones will work except those in patient rooms.

Payphones and cell phones are still an option if a call needs to be made.
