How much would you pay to be truly stress-free, even for a few moments? The Chatham-Kent Public Library is offering you the chance to try it for free.

Sahaja Yoga Toronto is teaming up with the Chatham library branch to host an introduction to meditation with Indian spiritual and folk music on Aug. 6 from 7-8 p.m.

Participants will be guided through a meditation practice to experience their own energy and learn techniques to help focus on the present; resulting in a more calm, peaceful feeling.

According to a release from the library, regular meditation results in many benefits which have been documented and validated by clinical case studies conducted in Asia, Australia and Europe such as:

  • Improved physical, mental and emotional health;
  • stress management;
  • prevention of cardiovascular diseases; and
  • treatment of high blood pressure and bronchial asthma

Sahaja Yoga began in India in 1970 and the growing organization now offers free classes all over Canada and around the world. For more information on this meditation technique, please visit www.freemeditation.com.
