Online and advanced-poll voting in this fall’s municipal election saw nearly 18 per cent of the electorate already cast their collective ballots.
The voting, which wrapped up recently, saw nearly 16,000 eligible voters take advantage of the early processed, voting online to the tune of more than 12,300 participants, or in person at the advance polls with nearly 3,700 taking that route.
For online voting, that’s nearly 4,000 more votes than the previous record of just under 9,800 Internet voters in 2018.
At the advanced polls, the turnout has not been this strong in 12 years.
All that’s left now is Election Day voting on Oct. 26. Polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
A reminder that electors must vote at their designated voting location, which can be found on their Voter Information Notice (VIN). Residents can also find their designated voting location by using the Where Do I Vote tool at ckelection.ca.
Eligible electors who need to add their name to the Voters’ List or update their information can still do so. Residents can visit any Chatham-Kent Municipal Centre during regular business hours until 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 26.
Electors can also update their information directly at their designated voting location on Election Day.
