So, with Christmas just a few days away, it appears we will get some of the white stuff. Cue the smile on my daughter’s face, as well as grins on countless other kids, and even local merchants.
Nothing pumps up the Christmas shopping spirit like a few flakes in the air and a little accumulation on the ground.
And few things in the days leading up to Christmas make kids happier than snow.
I was telling folks last week while handing out papers for Goodfellows that the snow could fall Dec. 22 — this coming Saturday — and I’d be happy. Most of the running around would be done and we’d need some accumulation for Christmas Day.
If it comes a day early, as Environment Canada predicts, I won’t complain.
Ditto for our daughter and thousands of other kids in Chatham-Kent.
Maybe they’ll be able to use the sledding hill at Kingston Park this winter.
But that’s at least one good winter storm and a freeze up away.
In the meantime, we’ll take the flakes in the air.
