Caught in the act
A woman faces charges in the wake of a break-in on Wednesday afternoon in Chatham.
Police say officers found her inside the home.
The officers responded to a report of a break-in on Selkirk Street in Chatham shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
They noticed damage to a window that had been forced open. The officers entered the home and located a woman inside.
A 33-year-old woman of no fixed address is charged with break and enter with the intent to commit an indictable offence.
But it didn’t stop there. Police learned the suspect was bound by a probation order that prohibited her from being near the residence in question.
That earned a charge of failing to comply.
Wrong name, ma’am
A local woman faces charges after police say she provided a false name to officers early Thursday morning.
Officers stopped a person on Grand Avenue West in Chatham shortly before 12:30 a.m.
The individual, police say, gave the officers a fake name. However, they confirmed her true identity and realized she had several outstanding warrants against her.
And now a 42-year-old Chatham woman has another charge on her rap sheet: obstructing a peace officer.
