Chatham-Kent police credit an RCMP officer for spotting someone they say was driving while impaired on the weekend.
The incident took place about 3:20 a.m. Sunday morning when a Mountie spotted a vehicle on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg driving without its headlights and swerving all over the road.
The RCMP officer contacted C-K police and an officer tried to pull over the vehicle.
However, police say the driver drove away recklessly, which led to him hitting a curb.
The suspect then fled on foot, but was arrested after a brief chase.
A 40-year-old Chatham man is charged with impaired driving, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, using a license plate not authorized for that vehicle, and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
