A Wallaceburg man faces assault with a weapon charges after Chatham-Kent police report that someone threatened a woman with a machete Sunday morning.
Police responded to a domestic disturbance on Emily Street in Wallaceburg. Upon investigation, it was discovered that a man had gone to the woman’s home to retrieve personal items. An argument ensued between the two, which quickly escalated into a physical altercation.
During the conflict, the man reportedly brandished a machete and began tapping the woman on the head, police say. T
he woman managed to escape and find safety.
Police promptly arrived at the scene and located the man in the backyard. He was subsequently arrested.
Further investigation revealed that the court had released the man with conditions prohibiting him from possessing weapons.
A 47-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with assault with a weapon and failing to comply with a release order. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
