Chatham’s Raymond Nute shows off his winnings from a recent Big Spin instant game.

A Chatham man is $225,000 richer following a recent win with the OLG.

Chatham’s Raymond Nute won the cash by playing the Big Spin instant game.

Nute, a 43-year-old father, said he’s been a regular lottery player since he was 18 years old. He loves instant tickets, especially Crossword, and started playing the Big Spin because of the multiple ways to win.

The automotive worker was on break at work when he scratched his ticket and won an in-store spin.

“I thought I might win $20,” he said in a media release. “When I saw the wheel land on Big Spin, I thought it was a glitch!”

Nute fondly recounted the moment he shared the news with his best friend.

“She said ‘What?’ She was so excited she started jumping around.”

Nute said he felt calm when it came time for him to spin the Big Spin Wheel.

“I didn’t think the wheel was as big as it was, and it was heavier than I thought it would be! I didn’t look at where it landed. I waited for them to announce it,” he said.

With his winnings, Nute plans to buy a car, save for his kids, and plan some fun family activities.

“I never imagined this $5 ticket would result in me taking $225,000 home. It’s a little surreal,” he said.
