A Chatham woman faces multiple charges after someone stole items from a business on Grand Avenue West in Chatham on Monday.
Chatham-Kent police say they received a call about 11 a.m. over the incident.
Police learned a woman entered the store and removed several items from the racks.
The woman was known to the staff for past theft incidents. When the woman was asked to leave, she began to yell and exited the store with the items, not attempting to pay for them, police say.
Officers searched the area and located their suspect.
A 50-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with theft, possession of stolen products and failing to comply with a release order. She was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.
Window whacked, man charged
Breaking up is hard to do, it is said. Breaking windows because of a break up? Not so much, it seems.
At 11:51 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Taylor Avenue in Chatham.
Through investigation, the police learned a woman had ended the relationship with a man. The man made several attempts to contact the woman, but when his attempts failed, he attended to the woman’s residence. While at the woman’s home, the man struck a window, resulting in damage, police say.
The man left before the police arrived but was located a short distance away and arrested.
A 30-year-old Chatham man was charged with mischief.
Courting arrest
Chatham-Kent police stopped a fellow on Grand Avenue West in Chatham on Monday for not having a headlight on his bicycle.
Police say the man was also known to the officer from previous incidents.
Through investigation, police learned the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant and was arrested. The warrant was issued when the man failed to appear for a court date.
A 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released with a new court date.
